Description Doug Goldstein (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-05-24 16:50:21 UTC
This ebuild brings the version of wireless-tools up to version 24 from version
23. It also uses the compiler flags that users specify in /etc/make.conf to
build the files instead of just make.

This update also provides a new tool for users, iwevent. However the
effectiveness of the update is hindered by the fact that Gentoo installs the
Linux 2.4.18 headers and uses 2.4.19 as it's kernel. The 2.4.19 series kernel
uses version 13 of the Wireless Extensions while 2.4.18 uses version 12.
Wireless Tools contains support for up to version 14 of the Wireless Extensions
however is limited to using only version 12 because of the included headers.

But the package does work 100% and does provide additional features still.

Included a stop-gap version of wireless-tools-24 for now. Will get to this as
soon as possible.

I am having problems with this one. It does not want to change the channel of my
wireless card. All other options work nicely. I'll leave everything as-is until
I figure out why.
Comment 4 Hanno Böck gentoo-dev 2002-10-15 04:52:01 UTC
This bug seems to be outdated, since 24 is in portage and unmasked.
