Description progserega 2010-01-04 07:36:53 UTC
Emerging net-voip/ekiga-3.2.6 failed with many errors in sigc headers.
In internet people says that need update dev-libs/libsigc++.
After updating dev-libs/libsigc++ from dev-libs/libsigc++-2.0.18 to dev-libs/libsigc++-2.2.3 ekiga success compile and merged to system.

Maybe need add depend for >=dev-libs/libsigc++-2.2.3 in ebuild of net-voip/ekiga-3.2.6?

Reproducible: Always

Thank you for your report.

Unfortunately, even if I can assume there is a real bug here, dev-libs/libsigc++-2.0.18 is not in the tree anymore and ekiga depends in dev-libs/libsigc++:2 so, in the current state of the tree, it remains to >=dev-libs/libsigc++-2.2.3.
I agree it is not the same but because I can't test it with 2.0.18 and upstream officially depends on libsigc++:2, I prefer to keep this dependency and assume a user with this bug will update his system. Indeed, 2.0.18 ebuild has been removed from the tree in December 2008 and for a desktop application not in the stable tree, I don't think it is clever to be sure something so old will be compatible.

I hope you will understand my choice. Do not hesitate to reopen this bug if you think my decision isn't good or send me an email.
