Hi, kde-i18n is just fetching 143MB, all languages.

Output is:

Examing the ebuild I haven't see why it fetches all.

Output of SRC_URI in the ebuild types the correct url, it seems changing
SRC_URI inside the ebuild doesn't work. I can't help more, because I'm hating
eclasses where I should search. ;)

using --fetchonly doesn't print the message using package de, so it seems
SRC_URI is evaluated before the ebuild set it correct.

Ok, I've found it. I have to touch the kde-i18 ebuild AND have to define
LINGUAS outside make.conf (e.g. LINGUAS="de" emerge kde-i18n) which isn't
very comfortable.

This should be fixed in the latest ebuild.
