Description JerAzev 2010-01-01 17:33:23 UTC
Anki seg faults when doing stuff in the deck browser. It seems like an sql issue as it only crashes when doing searches, sorting for tags, or generating cards.

I entered a bug report here a while back: http://code.google.com/p/anki/issues/detail?id=1476

The response I got was: "your qt libraries probably don't match your pyqt libraries."

I tried installing all the different qt/pyqt libraries and that didn't seem to help any so I waited and installed newer version but that didn't help any.

However, I think the problem might actually be a conflict between pysqlite and SQLAlchemy.

On anki's webpage ( http://ichi2.net/anki/download/index.html ) they have this message about those packages: "Finally, you may run into issues if you use SQLAlchemy < 0.5.3 and pysqlite ≥ 2.5.0. This is because the pysqlite author made some changes which broke SQLAlchemy. You can either:

    * Downgrade pysqlite to 2.5.1, or
    * Upgrade pysqlite to 2.5.5 and SQLAlchemy to 0.5.3

"

Unfortunately those versions no longer exist in portage (because there are newer versions).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install anki
2.Open up deck browser
3.Do a search or sort by tags

Actual Results:
Anki seg faults

Expected Results:
Shouldn't have crashed

What versions of pysqlite and sqlalchemy do you have installed? Also, please post output of 'emerge --info'

> What versions of pysqlite and sqlalchemy do you have installed?

I've tried every version in portage besides pysqlite-1.0.1 and sqlalchemy-0.3.7:
pysqlite-2.5.5-r1
pysqlite-2.5.6

sqlalchemy-0.5.5
sqlalchemy-0.5.6
sqlalchemy-0.5.7

Is this the same issue?: http://code.google.com/p/anki/issues/detail?id=1497
If so, it should be fixed in 0.9.9.8.6.
Comment 4 JerAzev 2010-02-19 17:47:33 UTC
Yeah, looks like it. The new anki is already in portage.
