Whenerver trying to pair the laptop (latitude E4300 with broadcom device BCM 2046) with a mobile-phone the bluetooth-applet crashes after I digit on the phone the pin-code sent by bluetooth-wizard. Expected behavior: the devices pair up. The error message reported by dmesg is: bluetoothd[2113] general protection ip:7fdfafef8c8a sp:7fff0fcdddf8 error:0 in bluetoothd[7fdfafedf000+33000] /var/log/messages reports: Dec 29 14:10:18 gigio bluetoothd[2113]: link_key_request (sba=address, dba=address) Dec 29 14:10:18 gigio bluetoothd[2113]: pin_code_request (sba=address, dba=address) Dec 29 14:10:29 gigio bluetoothd[2113]: link_key_notify (sba=address, dba=address, type=0) Dec 29 14:10:50 gigio kernel: bluetoothd[2113] general protection ip:7fdfafef8c8a sp:7fff0fcdddf8 error:0 in bluetoothd[7fdfafedf000+33000] Dec 29 14:10:50 gigio bluetoothd[2113]: : error updating services: Host is down Restarting bluetooth gives Dec 29 14:24:46 gigio bluetoothd[5376]: Bluetooth daemon 4.39 Dec 29 14:24:46 gigio bluetoothd[5376]: Starting SDP server Dec 29 14:24:46 gigio bluetoothd[5376]: Can't create GN bridge Dec 29 14:24:46 gigio bluetoothd[5376]: Starting experimental netlink support Dec 29 14:24:46 gigio bluetoothd[5376]: Failed to find Bluetooth netlink family Dec 29 14:24:46 gigio bluetoothd[5376]: HCI dev 0 registered Dec 29 14:24:46 gigio bluetoothd[5376]: HCI dev 0 up Dec 29 14:24:46 gigio bluetoothd[5376]: Starting security manager 0 Dec 29 14:24:46 gigio bluetoothd[5376]: Adapter /org/bluez/5376/hci0 has been enabled I have installed: glib-2.20.5-r1 gtk+-2.16.6 libnotify-0.4.5 gconf-2.26.2-r1 dbus-glib-0.76 libunique-1.0.8 bluez-4.39-r2 obexd-0.18 gnome-bluetooth-2.28.3 obexftp-0.23-r1 pambase-20090620.1-r1 pam-1.1.0

Install bluez with USE test-programs and try to pair with your mobile device doing: $ simple-agent hci0 00:1A:3E:9A:83:DD (you can get the bluetooth address running 'hcitool scan'. Be sure that your cell phone is on the discoverable mode) then tell me what happens.
This is what happens: :~|5> simple-agent hci0 **:**:**:**:**:** RequestPinCode (/org/bluez/12719/hci0/dev_**_**_**_**_**_**) Enter PIN Code: Release Creating device failed: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken. If I instead use the applet dmesg reports: usb 3-1.2: usbfs: process 12553 (hid2hci) did not claim interface 0 before use Thanks
Do you get the same with bluez-4.60 ?
(In reply to comment #6) > Do you get the same with bluez-4.60 ? > Just tested: Bluetooth seems to work correctly with net-wireless/bluez-4.60 app-mobilephone/obex-data-server-0.4.5 gnome-bluetooth-2.28.3 net-wireless/gnome-bluetooth-2.28.3 sys-fs/obexfs-0.11 (and not with app-mobilephone/obexd!)
(In reply to comment #7) > (and not with app-mobilephone/obexd!) > Could you elaborate a bit more about this last point? Is it the same bug or a different one? Thanks
It is most likely a different one. With bluez-4.60 pairing to device is successful both if I use obexd (which I had installed when I opened the bug) or if I use obex-data-server (with which I replaced obexed after a first trial with bluez-4.60). If I use obexd an error occur when I start browsing the device. Only with obex-data-server I observed up to now a correct behavior. I mentioned the above only to account for the change of configuration in my last posting.
OK, then, this one is fixed. About obexd problem, I think that I have seen a similar problem (maybe I saw it myself, but I don't remember and can't test just now :-( ) Maybe you should send a new bug repot for it :-/
