Fam-oss is the file alteration monitor, when courier is compiled with support
for FAM it allows clients that understand the IMAP IDLE extension to be notified
of changes in the folder they are working in. As this is an optional dependency
a local use flag would be appropriate.

posadis(Bugs #26268) also supports fam-oss.
I think fam should be in 'use.desc'.
