Umm, why were you doing parallel install?
In the ebuild:
84 src_install() {
85     # bug #298250
86     emake -j1 DESTDIR="${D}" install || die
...
Comment 3 Diego Elio Pettenò (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-12-28 00:25:06 UTC
-j1 is a workaround not a fix.
Comment 4 Robin Johnson archtester Gentoo Infrastructure gentoo-dev Security 2009-12-28 01:38:37 UTC
There's a fix in place now in .16. However I'd like to lodge and objection to being forced to fix parallel issues in src_install just for QA niceness. While it was trivial in this case, there are packages where it's non-trivial.

Even within openipmi, we have to make sure that we do both .in/.am, because elibtoolize/eautoreconf breaks the compile of the perl module.
Comment 5 Diego Elio Pettenò (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-12-28 01:41:32 UTC
Nobody's *forcing* you to fix these problems, but if they are just worked around, a bug should be kept open.

This is because a) from time to time I like to fix parallel problems and document them b) somebody else might be interested in fixing them c) an interested user, or a developer picking up a package, might be interested in fixing those problems, so having a reference of the problem to fix is *good*.
Comment 6 Robin Johnson archtester Gentoo Infrastructure gentoo-dev Security 2009-12-28 01:44:48 UTC
It doesn't need to be kept open.
The comment in the code references the bug, and but we could use markers like:
# FIXME bug #(num)
In the code, and have them removed when the issue is properly done.
Comment 7 Diego Elio Pettenò (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-12-28 01:45:38 UTC
Maybe you can come up with a WORKAROUND resolution for bugzilla :)
