lha is a utility for creating and opening LZH archives. LZH is a somewhat old compression format that took off big in Japan, but apparently fell flat in the rest of the world. It may have something to do with the restrictive patents on LZH compression[*]. Anyway, if you do any work in Japan you need lha because eventually you're gonna get an LZH archive. Note that like most Japanese software, lha has a weird, non-standard license. I have attached a license file derived from the one included with the Debian package of lha. I suppose this should be filed under app-arch. [*]http://www.cpe.surrey.ac.uk/support/faq/gif_lzw.htm

Created attachment 1116 [details] license for lha
I'll take this one. I remember using LHA, I used to like it in the old DOS times. ;^)
Committed. Thanks. Please pay attention to the changes that I made. You have to make sure that the user's optimization flags are honored. Thanks for the submission.
Just noticed that you also forgot to package the docs. I've fixed it in the ebuild.
thanks for catching the optimization flags. about the docs: what is the right thing to with non-english docs? just put them in the normal place? i had just left them out since they are all japanese.
My guess is to put them all in one place. Luckily, they are distinguishable by extensions. BTW, they are not all Japanese. ;^)
