Description Luca Wehrstedt 2009-12-22 15:11:50 UTC
In-tree nvidia-drivers cause X to crash at startup because of a segmentation fault. I can't get the output of `startx`, but I'll attach the Xorg.log.

This happens with version 190.53, but probably it happens even with previous versions. I can't be sure of that because I've been using upstream drivers for some time because of another bug. Upstream drivers 195.22 works out of the box.

The in-tree driver compiles and installs fine.

Maybe it isn't caused directly by X because immediately after the installation of in-tree drivers, when the system was still using the upstream ones, even other applications failed to start, for example openarena.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install nvidia-drivers from portage
2. Reboot
Actual Results:
X crashes because of a segault

Expected Results:
X starts normally

Bug has disappeared. Most probably new versions of X, nvidia drivers, glitz, etc... resolved this issue.
