Description Timothy Miller 2009-12-20 03:20:49 UTC
With x11vnc version 0.9.8-r1, the shift key is not processed correctly by the VNC server. Pressing SHIFT has no effect on any keys typed. My client works fine with other VNC servers. It's just x11vnc.

I googled this and asked about it on freenode #gentoo. Other people seem to be experiencing this same problem.

Reproducible: Always

Comment 1 Jeremy Sermersheim 2010-01-04 22:16:39 UTC
i'm having the same issue with x11vnc-0.9.9
Comment 2 Jeremy Sermersheim 2010-01-04 22:20:52 UTC
adding the -xkb to the command line or .x11vncrc file seems to have corrected the issue for me.
Comment 3 Chao-Rui Chang 2010-01-10 14:25:49 UTC
adding -nomodtweak will also make number keys work fine.
Comment 4 Jason Huebel 2010-02-14 23:51:34 UTC
Adding -xkb worked for me too.
Comment 5 Paul Tobias 2010-04-30 22:16:27 UTC
I think this has something to do with the hal useflag. I did disable the hal use flag on my notebook, rebuilt every affected package (emerge -DuN world) and the shift key stopped working. Enabling the hal use flag, and rebuilding affected packages made the shift key work again in x11vnc.
I did not try the mentioned -xkb and -nomodtweak command line parameters.

Still valid with x11vnc-0.9.13-r1?
