Having thes 2 lines within my /etc/portage/package.keywords/misc :

=sys-kernel/vanilla-sources-2.6.31.9
=sys-kernel/vanilla-sources-2.6.32.2

emerge pulled in only the 2.6.32.2 sources. If  I comment out the 2nd entry then the *.9 sources are emerged also.

These lines mean that portage could install those version if you ask it do so, but not that it should install them if you simply ask for "sys-kernel/vanilla-sources". In this case the highest visible version gets installed.
