Description Trenton D. Adams 2009-12-19 07:21:32 UTC
* apache2 has detected a syntax error in your configuration files:
apache2: Syntax error on line 169 of /etc/apache2/httpd.conf: Syntax error on line 4 of /etc/apache2/modules.d/70_mod_php5.conf: Cannot load /usr/lib64/apache2/modules/libphp5.so into server: libdb-4.6.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

So, it would appear that the portage did not preserve the libdb.

Comment 3 Zac Medico gentoo-dev 2009-12-21 03:21:18 UTC
Did this happen following an upgrade in the sys-libs/db:4.6 slot? If so, what were the initial and final versions (/var/log/emerge.log will show)?

If the sys-libs/db:4.6 slot is no longer installed, then how did it get uninstalled? The --depclean code in portage-2.2 is supposed to prevent such packages from being automatically removed.
Comment 4 Trenton D. Adams 2009-12-22 01:23:00 UTC
I am not entirely certain what happened. I'm showing one on Dec 6, but my upgrade was MUCH more recent than that (the day I posted the bug). So, either I didn't reboot after the last update, or something else is happening. Perhaps I simply didn't reboot. So, if this is supposed to be prevented in 2.2, was a bug fixed in that area after Dec 6?

[18:19 root@joseph ~] # genlop -l | grep sys-libs/db
     Thu Apr 9 22:28:14 2009 >>> sys-libs/db-4.5.20_p2-r1
     Sun Jun 7 13:28:34 2009 >>> sys-libs/db-4.6.21_p4
     Sun Dec 6 00:12:36 2009 >>> sys-libs/db-4.7.25_p4
Comment 5 Zac Medico gentoo-dev 2009-12-22 09:55:16 UTC
The thing is, sys-libs/db has a SLOT for each soname, so preserve-libs typically doesn't become involved. For example, sys-libs/db-4.6.21_p4 and sys-libs/db-4.7.25_p4 can be installed simultaneously, so there's no preserve-libs action in that upgrade.

Like I already asked, is sys-libs/db:4.6 installed or not? If so, it should be providing the library in question. You can see which versions are installed like this:

 portageq match / sys-libs/db

If sys-libs/db-4.6.21_p4 is still installed, you can list it's contents like this:

 portageq contents / sys-libs/db-4.6.21_p4

If it's installed, you should check whether or not libdb-4.6.so is listed in the contents, and you should also check if the file actually exists.
Comment 6 Trenton D. Adams 2009-12-23 02:08:13 UTC
Oh, right, it's a slot, and would have just remained. It appears that it got unmerged somehow, on Dec 8th, so apparently I must not have rebooted.

I guess this is probably resolved then.
Comment 7 Zac Medico gentoo-dev 2009-12-23 09:44:10 UTC
Ok, I guess it's invalid then.
