There look s like Kernel 2.6.31 have trouble by starting up with right vga mode, and it is eating memory and let to little space left to other stuff to work. And when it tries to reboot it end after unmount system mounting remain files and then trying reboot system an end up with something like: irq handler vector .... then hangs and all function is dead or lucked. Reproducible: Always Actual Results: System kernel 2.6.31 can't fine the right vga mode and gives then too little memory back for use of 2Giga Rams. And when reboot as root it ends up after unmount and mount with messages trying to reboot system and showing aome about irq handler vector in 8 lines and is then hangs and luck all function and hardware. Expected Results: 1. Find the video mode. 2. Not works to much around with the memory. 3. start up with video as 1024x768 4. after running and command reboot as root do the reboot system fine and not hangs and luck hardware.
Does 2.6.30 work as expected? This might be an issue with KMS. If you can't figure out how to configure your kernel properly, it is not a problem with gentoo itself, so closing INVALID. Please go to the forums and ask for help there!
