Hi, we'd like to offer a rsync mirror for the gentoo portage. The IP address is 69.64.44.252 and currently the portage tree gets synced at :00 and :30 of each hour. The server is connected via 100Mbit to the internet, our total bandwidth is 1Gbit. And there is no user connection limit. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Thanks for the offer. At the moment, we're fairly maxed out on rsync servers until we can increase capacity at our master node. However, I noticed you work for server4you, which I've heard is quite a large web hosting service. Gentoo is always seeking sponsors of infrastructure servers, such as web servers, etc. In return, we work hard to raise awareness of our sponsors and their business/products amongst our growing community. This includes a link on our sponsors page[1], write-ups in our Gentoo Weekly Newsletter[2] and other co-marketing arrangements. We would certainly be interested in working with server4you to see if we can work out a sponsorship/marketing agreement. If this is something you would be interested in as well, please feel free to contact me at klieber@gentoo.org. In the mean time, we're working to add capacity to our master node within the next couple of weeks. We'll update this bug with more information once that has happened, and get you added into the rotation at that point. Thanks again for helping to support Gentoo Linux.
If you are still interested in offering an rsync mirror, we've resolved the master node's capacity issues. We are currently close to the maximum number of nodes that rsync1.us.gentoo.org can return though. I've added 69.64.44.252 to the access list for rsync1.us. You should be able to start syncing with rsync1.us within 30 minutes. Please update your rsync cron jobs to point to rsync1.us and post back here when you've done so. We'll monitor the server for a couple days to make sure things are working fine. Thanks.
Are you still interested in offering this mirror?
Closing. If this mirror becomes available again, just reopen the bug. Thanks for offering to support Gentoo.
