Description Francisco Lloret 2009-12-05 17:26:52 UTC
After upgrade kernel to gentoo-sources-2.6.31-r6, W83627HDG monitoring module don't loads and the system is unable to see fan speeds and system voltages.

From dmesg:

w83627ehf: Found W83627DHG chip at 0x290
ACPI: I/O resource w83627ehf [0x295-0x296] conflicts with ACPI region HWRE [0x290-0x299]
ACPI: If an ACPI driver is available for this device, you should use it instead of the native driver

i can confirm same issu with 2.6.32 on x64 arch.

2.6.30 worked good
Comment 2 Patrizio Bassi 2009-12-28 13:36:27 UTC
i investigated and found
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12376

it's a bios issue not kernel.

using asus specific driver works.

you can close this
Comment 3 Francisco Lloret 2009-12-28 15:06:18 UTC
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12376 is related to kernel up to 2.6.30.

Gentoo sources-2.6.30 works ok in my system, i have the problem with later versions.
Comment 4 Patrizio Bassi 2009-12-28 15:11:27 UTC
because in 2.6.30 they introduced the strict policy on hwmon driver loading
Comment 5 Francisco Lloret 2009-12-28 17:33:15 UTC
Thanks.
Solved recompiling kernel with Asus atk0110 support upgrade lm_sensors to 3.1.1 version and re-compile gkrellm with lm_sensors USE.

lm_sensors prior to 3.1.1 don't works with atk0110

does atk0110 work with abit boards?
