The debug messages aren't clear about what's causing the crash - the only hint is some issues with the last.fm plugin. This version works with >=binutils-2.20 so that isn't the cause.

Please confirm whether amarok was built after the last update of qt and kdelibs. One way to check is to run the following commands: $ emerge -av portage-utils $ qlop -l qt kdelibs amarok If amarok was built before either qt or kdelibs and if qt was updated after kdelibs was built, you need to rebuild qt, then kdelibs and finally amarok. Also be sure that you have the same version of all qt ebuilds.

Maybe you should just remove your ".kde4/share/apps/amarok/" ?
(In reply to comment #12) > Maybe you should just remove your ".kde4/share/apps/amarok/" ? > You got close. You have to delete .kde4/share/config/amarokrc. Oh, if you cant'get korganizer working anymore, just do the same.
If i try to reactivate "ultimate lyrics" plugin it crashes and refuses to start like before. Do you use it?
Please check if you emerged x11-libs/qtscriptgenerator after the Qt update. If not, emerge it again and test amarok once more.
I didn't, emerge didn't tell me to recompile qtscriptgenerator-0.1.0. What do i need to test? Amarok starts and play after deleting amarokrc.
Anyone still having amarok crash and that didn't update qtscriptgenerator, please update the ebuild, start amarok and report here. Another possibility is that someone got some patches failing on packages because of patch-2.6. Please read Diego's (flameeyes) blog[1] to see how to check and fix any breakage introduced by using patch-2.6. [1] - http://blog.flameeyes.eu/2009/12/01/gentoo-service-announcement-keep-clear-of-gnu-patch-2-6
-removing ultimate lyrics then starting amarok =>no crash -putting back ultimate lyrics -> emerge qtscriptgenerator then amarok => still crash but I can now see briefly the gui before the crash. if after I remove ultimate lyrics script then => amarok is fine and http://blog.flameeyes.eu/2009/12/01/gentoo-service-announcement-keep-clear-of-gnu-patch-2-6 give me->tail: +: invalid number of lines and qlop -l | grep -n patch-2.6 give me -> nothing
after deleting the amarokrc i'm able to start amarok, however, it doesn't scan my collection, so i'm left with 0 files in my collection.
If it does not add any song, try using an external mysql database. This worked for me.
Just for confirmation: disabling ultimate lyrics (edit amarokrc and set Ultimate LuricsEnabled=false - you may have two instances of this line) makes amarok start normally.
Created attachment 212052 [details] debug output on scanning the collection here's what i get when i try to fully rescan my collection. it doesn't matter if the internal mysql is used or the external. the error seems to be the same.
Please try with amarok 2.2.1.90 (beta1) and give us feedback. thanks
works for me. The playlist now resizes well also. Haven't tried with "ultimate lyrics", anyway.
+ collection scanning works. - crashes if you activate Ultimate Lyrics. - loses the playlist entries on every restart. - dynamic playlist isn't working as expected.
@ Serge Ratke Let's make this bug usefull again :) First of all, we can't track three different issues on the same bug, so let's separate them. We'll track the issue: "Amarok 2.2.1.90 (beta1) crashes if you activate Ultimate Lyrics" (I changed summary accordingly. The bad news is that all three issues you have stated are upstream bugs, so you'll have to search for the relevant upstream bugs in kde bugzilla (or open new ones with backtraces if they don't exist), and also open bugs in our bugzilla so we can track them. PS please be more specific about the third issue (in its bug as i stated of course). "isn't working as expected" does not describe the problem. Thank you

(In reply to comment #19) > after deleting the amarokrc i'm able to start amarok, however, it doesn't scan > my collection, so i'm left with 0 files in my collection. > Also you can remove .kde4/share/apps/amarok/scripts/ultimate\ lyrics/ directory. This trick helps me.
Please try again with 2.2.2.90 that will be put later today in the tree.
works now for me
