Description bruteforce 2003-09-24 14:40:02 UTC
I'm using gentoo i686-1.4-20030911-cd1.iso
When I try to boot the kernel pcmcia-cs it fails as follows.

    boot: dopcmcia
Could not find kernel image: dopcmcia

FYI, I'm on an IBM TP-600 w/ HNE-300 (rt8139) pcmcia card bus NIC (Compaq iPAQ).

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. at the 'boot: ' prompt of the i686-1.4-20030911-cd1, type 'dopcmcia' and hit
enter.
Actual Results:
It returned with 'Could not find kernel image: dopcmcia' then after a few
seconds, booted the kernel without pcmcia support.

Expected Results:
It should have loaded kernel pcmcia support, recognized my NIC, configured my
network, and dropped me to a root prompt.

I discovered this bug after trying i686-1.4-20030803-cd1 with no success
either. i686-1.4-20030803-cd1 loaded dopcmcia fine, but would not recognise my
HNE-300 NIC and failed to load the 8139too driver successfully. I was hoping
for more success with i686-1.4-20030911-cd1, but alas ... no dice.

try "gentoo dopcmcia" at the prompt
Comment 2 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-25 11:24:58 UTC
Moving these so we can remove the "Install CD" component from "Gentoo Linux".

I apologize to everyone for this spam, but according to the bugzilla developers,
this is the only reasonable way to do this.
