sure removing the cups use flag resolves the problem temporarily, but it doesn 't fix the initial bug as the cups feature is missing in GTK then. Even if this is the final solution the cups useflag needs to be removed from the gtk+ ebuild and not just not specified by the users.

After you installed gtk+ with -cups, you have gtk+ installed and you are now able to install things that depend on gtk+, like cups (or some of its dependencies). Simply emerge gtk+ again with cups use flag enabled.
