This is just to announce that version 3.0 of msnlib is out. The existing ebuild file works fine on my testing and shouldn't require any changes. There is a major thing to notice about the release: please make it the stable one because users are urged to upgrade, otherwise they won't be able to login after October 15, because Microsoft drops support for older protocol versions. This is why I marked the priority "Major" and not "Enhacement" as I normally do. Thanks a lot. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
Alberto, 3.0 doesn't seem to work for me properly, whereas 2.1 seems to be working fine. It quits with this error message: mcvaio /usr/lib/pkgconfig % msn * MSN Client (2.1) * Loading config... done Logging in... done Syncing... done Status set to online [msn] q Closing mcvaio /usr/lib/pkgconfig % msn * MSN Client (3.0) * Loading config... done Logging in... Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/msn", line 1433, in ? errno = int(info[0]) TypeError: unsubscriptable object
This is due to a bug in the error handling of the new login procedure. I've just released 3.1 which is a small, purely bugfix release for all known issues, including this one. You can find it, as usual, in http://users.auriga.wearlab.de/~alb/msnlib/ Please let me know if you have any problems with it. Thanks a lot for the report, Alberto
Hold on just a minute =) I think there is a problem with the new login protocol for some hotmail accounts, because it acts in a different way from non-hotmail ones. I'll take a look at it and let you know how it goes posting another message. Sorry for all the mess. Thanks, Alberto
Well, I found out the problem some days ago, tested it and I've made a new release, 3.2. The problem was logging in for some hotmail accounts, it's fixed and it's been tested and reported to work fine. Sorry it took me so long to reply, but I wanted to make sure this release was tested enough. One requeriment that showed up, tho, is Python 2.2.2 or greater due to a bug in https handling in prior versions, so now a modification to the ebuild file to reflect this is necesary. I'm really sorry for all this mess, I don't like doing things this way, it usually takes about a month to make a release, but I think it's better to do do this now and get over it at once, than wait until October 15. Thanks again for your patience, Alberto
no problems. thanks for following this up. 3.2 is now in portage, but i can't immediately knock it to stable because of policy. i'll give it a week of testing before marking it. thanks for your help.
