Description Albert Zeyer 2009-11-29 19:10:55 UTC
The game itself seems to run fine but the mouse cursor is randomly moving, most often trends to move to the right bottom corner. This is all the time. Seems to happen only directly after I have moved the mouse. For example, when I constantly move from right to left with the mouse, perhaps each second or so it just resets the cursor to the right bottom corner (seems like a SDL_WarpMouse call).

These random movements are also in game, so it makes it pretty much unplayable.

Comment 2 Albert Zeyer 2009-11-29 19:12:58 UTC
I just tried out Quake3 (ioquake) and Worldofpadman and in both games, I have exactly the same problems.

This is strange though because last time I played Quake3 (hm, perhaps a year ago or so? cannot really tell what I have changed in that time - it's a lot) it was ok.
Comment 3 Albert Zeyer 2009-11-29 19:15:41 UTC
I also don't really have a clue where I should start to debug this. What could explain such a behaviour? Anybody any idea?

Does the window manager resets the mouse position in some cases? I'll try another one ...
Comment 4 Albert Zeyer 2009-11-29 19:19:04 UTC
Well, at least in metacity, kwin and openbox, I have the problem.

Another idea: I think last time I played Quake3 was with an older Xorg server. Now I have 1.5.3-r6. Could Xorg cause such problems?
Comment 6 Wormo (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-11-30 06:56:30 UTC
This problem has been reported as an upstream xorg-7.4 bug: http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20770
No fixes posted yet however, so for now the workaround of disabling dga seems to be your only option.
Comment 7 Rémi Cardona (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-11-30 16:25:35 UTC
Nothing to be done here, let's track the bug upstream directly. Upstream asked a question, if someone is willing to try it out, I could help out with the patching.

Thanks
