Description Ernesto Barechesto 2009-11-27 23:10:03 UTC
I have a relatively new Gentoo install (seasoned user, new laptop) with an AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-60 processor. When using Kino as a frontend to media-video/mjpegtools-1.9.0 I noticed the encoding extremely SLOOOWWWWW. Digging around, the mmx USE flag was disabled in the AMD64 10.0 desktop profile and AMD 64 architecture. When I commented out the lines in the appropriate files (/usr/portage/profiles/arch/amd64/package.use.mask and /usr/portage/profiles/default-linux/amd64/package.use.mask) and recompiled the package with the mmx flag set, it compiles fine, appears to work fine, and encodes about ten times faster. The use flag was forced off over three years ago. Perhaps the package has changed enough since then...

Reproducible: Always

Indeed, there is a x86_64 support now... verified by building, and configure.ac. Unmasked.
