Description chickaroo 2009-11-27 07:29:26 UTC
There's a long thread on pidgin's bugzilla about the MSN protocol change. MSN nicknames are no longer saved/restored upon different sessions. Here's the thread here http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/10763

Long story short, I took the patch there and appended it to the pidgin-2.6.3 ebuild into 2.6.3-r1

Not sure how to attach files, but here's the patch --> http://gentoo.pastebin.ca/1689205

And the ebuild is here --> http://gentoo.pastebin.ca/1689206

seems to work fine now with this patch. It didn't seem like upstream was releasing a new version anytime soon, so I wouldn't want to see this bug linger for too long. (and btw i figured out how to attach files, so ignore the pastebins)

are we just leaving this for upstream to fix? it's in the latest CVS builds of pidgin, but god knows when 2.6.4 will be released. this small patch fixes a really annoying bug for everyone who uses MSN

Nevermind, pidgin 2.6.4 was just released.
