cfv has the capability to check .torrent files, but this isn't mentioned in the description. Current description: Utility to test and create .sfv, .csv, .crc and md5sum files Description from homepage: cfv is a utility to both test and create .sfv, .csv, .crc, .md5(sfv-like), md5sum, bsd md5, sha1sum, and .torrent files. These files are commonly used to ensure the correct retrieval or storage of data. Additionally, extra dependencies are required for .torrent functionality. Error message when deps are missing: No module named BTL and No module named BitTorrent and No module named BitTornado (CF) Either a use flag or a post install message should be added indicating what packages fulfill these dependencies. bittornado will definitely work without the gtk use flag - I didn't try any others. http://cfv.sourceforge.net/README says the bittorrent from http://www.bitconjurer.org/BitTorrent/ should work, tho I couldn't find this in portage and looking at the URL I'm not sure it even exists anymore.
Confirming this issue - cfv's torrent check support isn't working without any bittorrent libs installed.
I've added a long description to metadata.xml, I'm not going to mention every single file format it supports in our regular description.
