Daemon running as root, but my messages file is filled with: Nov 25 04:00:01 system syslog-ng[3037]: Error opening file for writing; filename='/var/log/cron', error='Permission denied (13)' This started after the recent upgrade to 3.0.4 (problem does not exist in older versions). More information here: https://bugzilla.balabit.com/show_bug.cgi?id=42 It seems that a patch (workaround) for this does exist.
Still a problem with 3.0.5?

3.0.3 is not in the tree anymore. If there's still some issue with 3.2.2 file a new bug please.
Problem still exists in current stable (app-admin/syslog-ng-3.1.3). Jan 21 03:20:01 system syslog-ng[2107]: Error opening file for writing; filename='/var/log/cron', error='Permission denied (13)' Jan 21 03:20:01 system syslog-ng[2107]: Error opening file for writing; filename='/var/log/cron', error='Permission denied (13)' Jan 21 03:30:01 system syslog-ng[2107]: Error opening file for writing; filename='/var/log/cron', error='Permission denied (13)' Jan 21 03:30:01 system syslog-ng[2107]: Error opening file for writing; filename='/var/log/cron', error='Permission denied (13)'
