Description alexander.jerneck 2009-11-24 22:33:21 UTC
I recently followed the Gentoo KDE4 upgrade guide, which worked very well. So far I've run into two issues using my new KDE installation that perhaps could be added to the Hints and Troubleshooting section (or perhaps somewhere else).

1. kcontrol is now called systemsettings. As I only run a few KDE programs and not the full desktop, I run the control panel from the commandline, and this change was not easy to find.

2. konqueror depends on dolphin for file management. (See http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=233705 ). Perhaps this issue could be explained -- especially since following the guide, I unistalled KDE-3.5.x completely.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

If it can help some users to migrate to kde4... I'm not opposed

- And if you browse this bug, you can see that it was resolved as CANTFIX
 (with a good argument)
- Secondly read logs for konqueror ;)

True, it is in the log.

I'll close this as wontfix:
1) the kcontrol/systemsettings issue is not a real issue. Systemsettings is part of the KDEBASE module, and your case seems too special for me to be documented.

2) This is covered in both konqueror and dolphin logs I don't think it is needed.

If you still think that I should document something, send me an email directly. thanks for the report
