Are you sure this is a problem? graphicsmagick is supposed to be an alternative for imagemagick, so no wonder they would collide if both were installed at the same time. Have you tried uninstalling imagemagick and using graphicsmagick instead?
I am using imagemagick for many years. Is graphicsmagick better and does it provide the same tools as e.g. convert, identify etc?
I don't see where this is a bug. You can disable the imagemagick flag in graphicsmagick and have both. I actually modified the imagemagick ebuild so that it blocks only graphicsmagick[imagemagick]. For your info, graphicsmagick provides the same command line tools as imagemagick, it is just lighter and faster. The library is a bit different and does not collide.
I masked >=octave-3.2.3-r1 to avoid the blocking graphicsmagick and imagemagick. Than I was googling for independent comparison of graphicsmagick and imagemagick, after http://www.linux.com/archive/articles/59223, which is quite old, there is no essential advantage of graphicsmagick over imagemagick. And it is said, that they can coexist at one computer. Following Comment #3 I tried: root@tiger:/root(23)# USE="-imagemagick" emerge -pvD graphicsmagick And after an additional 'emerge --sync' the above command does no more complain about blockking. Thanks.
