# emerge -k sys-fs/reiserfsprogs :: Provided an error regarding masking and could not install the package. # emerge - reiserfsprogs installed the correct package. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Use LiveCD Installation Instructions for Stage 3 GPR 2.Follow Install Doucment instructions and choose reiserfs for main partition 3.Attempt to load reiserfsprogs via the comand listed in sectin "17. Installing miscellaneous necessary packages" Actual Results: An error listing masking and linking issues. Sorry did not document the error message (Really sorry - I know better - It was very late). It appears that emerge did not "understand" what package to add/ Expected Results: Load reiserfsprogs package. emerge -k resierfsprogs worked fine and installation was compelted. 1st boot was successful. I chose to configure my kernal via emerge --config form step "16. Installing the kernel and system logger" but did not change any of the settings because I was not sure about the PCMCIA settings. I doubt this had any effect at all.
I misspelled reiserfsprogs in the additional info. #emerge -k reiserfs

This is due to the portage snapshot (and GRP packages) in the LiveCDs still uses sys-apps category and not sys-fs (which was just created a few days ago).. A new maintenance LiveCD (drobbins ?) or 1.4.1 will fix this. Marked it as LATER.

Reopened bug
Created attachment 18238 [details, diff] gentoo-x86-install.xml.diff dropped the sys-fs for now since the LiveCDs still uses sys-apps category in its portage snapshot
