Description rob lorber 2003-09-22 13:43:42 UTC
Non-root users can't receive cookies. When they try to open the cookies module in
the konqueror settings, they receive the following error.

This control module could not start the cookie server process.
It will not be possible to manage received cookies

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Try to login to a site like http://games.yahoo.com/ch
2. Enter your login information
3. Submit form
Actual Results:
You get an error message saying,

The browser you're using refuses to sign in. (cookies rejected)

Expected Results:
A cookie should have been stored and the page should display a successfull log in.

Root does not have this problem. This is newly installed box and there have been no
other versions of kde installed.

This bug report was allready filled on September 19th, 2003 as bug # 29083 but that
bug # now contains a different bug report???

I am unable to reproduce this. Cookies work just fine for me.

Do your users have the ability to write to their home directories? This owuld
cause a problem.

You can open up kcontrol -> KDE components -> Service Manager
Can you start the KDED Cookie jar Module?

It sounds more like a configuration problem or something that went wrong
during compile time.

I received an error message when I clicked service manager. Something like, "Cannot
start kded cookie jar module", Sorry, I lost the exact error.

I restarted the computer and the problem was no longer. I had quit X and logged off/on
several times but the problem would not dissapear until the computer was restarted.

Thanks,

Apparently a reboot fixed it. Strange problem, though.
