it is unstable for anyone that uses cuda, so why not mask the flag for the time's being or add it still to portage as not all users use cuda?

Not my decision anymore :]
I am no longer maintainer. Sci guys must decide that.

version 6.10.56 is out, even boinc it self is shouting at me that there is a new version out, does anyone working on it?
Comment 7 Christian Mandery 2012-01-23 22:20:14 UTC
The BOINC package should be pushed to the latest available version, since there are some useful changes in the latest versions (e.g. the libxss integration for user activity detection).

Also, I don't understand the tagging of BOINC versions in Gentoo. The latest official version of BOINC for Linux is 6.12.34, yet the stable (and only) package in the Portage Tree has version 6.12.42. Can somebody explain this to me?

There was a version bump request bug (gentoo was still some way behind the official stable package - can't remember the boinc version we were stuck on) and Tomas decided to bump us to a beta version. Now the current "stable" version is 7.0.25 but there is a bugfix 7.0.26 in the wings.

Closing this ancient bug that has no purpose; if you want boinc stable, please file a new request for new version.
