Description gentoo@netmalice.com 2009-11-17 16:44:24 UTC
Whenever I try to emerge app-cdr/k3b, my emerge tells me to make the following change:

emerge: there are no ebuilds built with USE flags to satisfy "~x11-libs/qt-core-4.5.3[-debug,-qt3support]".
!!! One of the following packages is required to complete your request:
- x11-libs/qt-core-4.5.3-r2 (Change USE: -qt3support)

I then make the requested change, attempt to emerge k3b again, and get the following message.

emerge: there are no ebuilds built with USE flags to satisfy ">=x11-libs/qt-core-4.5.1:4[qt3support,ssl]".
!!! One of the following packages is required to complete your request:
- x11-libs/qt-core-4.5.3-r2 (Change USE: +qt3support)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge k3b
2.
3.

Actual Results:
tells me to enable qt3support for qt-core, then disable it, then enable it, etc

Expected Results:
install k3b

output from emerge --info:

Bugzilla is not help desk, and this is not a bug.
Closing as INVALID, read the emerge output.
Try forums.gentoo.org or gentoo's documentation howto use portage.
Comment 2 gentoo@netmalice.com 2009-11-17 16:51:27 UTC
How is this not a bug when I do exactly what emerge says, which causes it to simply tell me to undo it? Last time I checked, when a package can't work with _or_ without an option, that's a bug.
Comment 3 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-11-17 16:54:37 UTC
For instance. Enable USE qt3support for *all* packages, and don't play with package.use. But as said in my prev. post, this isn't a helpdesk...
