The ebuild for nmap requires gnome/gtk, but nmap itself can be built without it. You only really need gtk if you want to use nmapfe. I am attempting to install nmap on a system without X (and only 1GB of HD space), so I would like the option of leaving off nmapfe, and therefore, leaving out the requirement for gtk. I have seen ebuilds listed in a google search that checked for gtk, and left off nmapfe if it was not found, but that ebuild is not what is used presently. Can we put a check for gtk/gnome into the ebuild & fail out nmapfe if it is not found, please? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
the ebuild checks for gnome and gtk useflags and handles its support accordingly.
in other words, fully setup your USE flag
