Description email200202 2009-11-16 03:54:22 UTC
The emerge failed with the following message:

 * Messages for package dev-util/kdevplatform-0.9.96:

 * This package will overwrite one or more files that may belong to other
 * packages (see list below). You can use a command such as `portageq
 * owners / <filename>` to identify the installed package that owns a
 * file. If portageq reports that only one package owns a file then do
 * NOT file a bug report. A bug report is only useful if it identifies at
 * least two or more packages that are known to install the same file(s).
 * If a collision occurs and you can not explain where the file came from
 * then you should simply ignore the collision since there is not enough
 * information to determine if a real problem exists. Please do NOT file
 * a bug report at http://bugs.gentoo.org unless you report exactly which
 * two packages install the same file(s). Once again, please do NOT file
 * a bug report unless you have completely understood the above message.
 *
 * Detected file collision(s):
 *
 * /usr/share/kde4/services/kdevdocumentview.desktop
 * /usr/share/kde4/services/kdevgrepview.desktop
 * /usr/share/apps/kdevdocumentview/kdevdocumentview.rc
 * /usr/share/apps/kdevgrepview/kdevgrepview.rc
 * /usr/lib/kde4/kdevdocumentview.so
 * /usr/lib/kde4/kdevgrepview.so
 *
 * Searching all installed packages for file collisions...
 *
 * Press Ctrl-C to Stop
 *
 * dev-util/kdevelop-3.9.95
 * /usr/lib/kde4/kdevdocumentview.so
 * /usr/lib/kde4/kdevgrepview.so
 * /usr/share/apps/kdevdocumentview/kdevdocumentview.rc
 * /usr/share/apps/kdevgrepview/kdevgrepview.rc
 * /usr/share/kde4/services/kdevdocumentview.desktop
 * /usr/share/kde4/services/kdevgrepview.desktop
 *
 * Package 'dev-util/kdevplatform-0.9.96' NOT merged due to file
 * collisions. If necessary, refer to your elog messages for the whole
 * content of the above message.

 Then I disabled collision-detect flag and emerged it. I found that kdevelop has lost "Find In Files" menu.

So, I downgraded back to kdevelop-3.9.95.

Does "Find In Files" disappeared because of the collision or kdevelop4 will not have this very important feature?

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
emerge -av dev-util/kdevelop-3.9.96

Actual Results:
collision detected and the above failed message.

Expected Results:
no errors.

To solve the collisions problem, un-merge kdevelop and kdevplatform and then
 do the update and re-merge it.

This works and the "Find In Files" menu appears again.

Please close this bug.
