Scim and empathy tray icons disappeared but both applications are still working (although without a tray icon empathy is really unusable). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Run one of the above mentioned applications 2. Look for their tray icons 3. They're missing!

I see something like you describe in 2.28.1.1, but I only see it in the connecting phase and only the first time I start it, haven't been able to reproduce it since. Sorry for the attachment, wrong bug

I really don't see what that patch has to do with the tray icon... The scim tray icon bug sounds like bug #283317.
