I suppose the existing /usr/include/libgnome-2.0/libgnome/libgnome.h should be included.

I wonder how I was able to install it on April 7, with libgnome-2.26.0. What changed?
Comment 2 Thomas Beinicke 2009-11-24 15:02:27 UTC
I get the same error even though the file libgnome.h exists.

gnome-base/libgnome-2.28.0 (/usr/include/libgnome-2.0/libgnome/libgnome.h)

Comment 4 Daniel Rozsnyo 2009-12-05 12:35:53 UTC
When compiling, I am getting the same error:

    In file included from MQQueryDispatcher.cc:21:
myqb.h:27:31: error: libgnome/libgnome.h: No such file or directory

Looking where this file is:

    # equery belongs libgnome.h
     * Searching for libgnome.h ...
    gnome-base/libgnome-2.28.0 (/usr/include/libgnome-2.0/libgnome/libgnome.h)

And I've created the "proper" include path (thinking as /usr/include is the include search path or include root..):

    # ln -s /usr/include/libgnome-2.0/libgnome /usr/include/libgnome

Then it complains about missing bonobo, which is a similar fix:

    # ln -s /usr/include/libbonobo-2.0/bonobo /usr/include/bonobo

But finally it did not help, I've got these errors:

    main.o: In function `main':
    main.cc:(.text+0x1b48): undefined reference to `libgnome_module_info_get'
    main.cc:(.text+0x1b7e): undefined reference to `gnome_program_init'

I have installed gnome-base/libgnome-2.28.0

Use workaround in ebuild

The attached modification to the ebuild solves the problem to me. It includes libgnome-2.0 along with libgtkhtml-3.14 in the --with-gtkhtml argument to configure, thus causing pkg-config to emit proper compiler and linker flags for libgnome and its dependencies.

I guess that in the past some kind of transitive dependency, probably from gtkhtml, took care of the inclusion of libgnome, but doesn't do so any more in more recent versions. So the patch makes the dependency direct. Maybe the ebuild dependencies should reflect this direct dependency as well, dunno.

Agreed with the analysis. I fixed this with mysql-query-browser-5.0_p12-r3. I choose to patch configure.in instead.

Closer to a proper fix than my workaround, but takes a bit more time to build due to the reconfigure. Shouldn't make much difference, though.

Thanks for fixing this. Out of curiosity: why did you bump the revision? It's a compile time issue, without effect on runtime behaviour, right?
