I installed clapack-3.1.1.1 from the science overlay. However, clapack does _not_ show up when one 

  eselect lapack list

I do not know if this is correct.

Until now I didn't thought about adding this one to lapack implementations selectable by eselect.

I will take a look into it soon.

clapack does not have a defined abi like blas, cblas or lapack have. It is only an automated conversion from fortran to C, which only exists in netlib. There is no need for eselect for that case until there is an official clapack. Actually the clapack offered in atlas-lapack has a complete different framework.
