Description Kari Hazzard 2009-11-10 12:43:58 UTC
kde-base/systemsettings-4.3.1 fails to build on my system. Build log is attached.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge systemsettings

Actual Results:
Build fails.

Expected Results:
Build succeeds.

My system used the hardened kernel, but not the hardened toolchain. This is likely not important, though, as dmesg and the log files do not indicate any PaX/Grsec-triggered actions

This looks like mix of testing proto and stable libraries or something like that.

Did you try to update to xorg-server-1.7 and then downgraded?
Comment 3 Kari Hazzard 2009-11-10 19:30:47 UTC
Rebuilding the X libraries fixed the problem, but that does mean that there's a problem with the dependency tree if higher versions of certain libs are needed but not required by the ebuild.

I didn't do it methodically to figure out where the problem was so as to not waste time, but it might be wise to modify the ebuild to require the latest stable versions of the X libs.

It does not require latest or any.

You just need to use proper x11 environment. So have same xorg and libs, not something in-between.

We in x11 team did not add blockers because it would just annoy most users.
