I saw this bug months ago and thought it was resolved, but on a fresh gentoo-1.4 installation, this bug has come back... printing and previewing just make abiword segfault. I'm talking of abiword-1.0.6-r1 (which is the standard for stable gentoo) I've emerged sync and reemerged abiword without a difference. (Note : the bug previously had been solved by reducing optimization, from -O3 to -O2 or something like that, I could check that -O1 got used during the emerging of abiword. On a side note, the other flags of CPUFLAGS got used, but then I didn't change the flags proposed for athlon-xp. See the output of emerge info for details) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.emerge abiword 2.preview or print 3. Actual Results: abiword seg faults Portage 2.0.49-r3 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.2.3, glibc-2.3.2-r1, 2.4.22_pre2-gss) ================================================================= System uname: 2.4.22_pre2-gss i686 AMD Athlon(tm) XP 1800+ ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O3 -march=athlon-xp -funroll-loops -fprefetch-loop-arrays -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="gcc3" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /var/qmail/control /usr/share/config /usr/kde/2/share/confi g /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O3 -march=athlon-xp -funroll-loops -fprefetch-loop-arrays -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="sandbox ccache autoaddcvs" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://194.83.57.3/sites/www.ibiblio.org/gentoo/ http://212.219. 56.146/sites/www.ibiblio.org/gentoo/ http://212.219.56.162/sites/www.ibiblio.org /gentoo/ http://194.83.57.11/sites/www.ibiblio.org/gentoo/" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="" SYNC="rsync://rsync.europe.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 oss apm avi crypt cups encode foomaticdb gif jpeg kde libg++ mad mikmod mmx motif mpeg ncurses nls pdflib png quicktime slang spell truetype xml2 xmms xv zlib gtkhtml gdbm berkdb readline tetex bonobo svga java guile sdl gpm tcpd p am libwww ssl perl python esd imlib oggvorbis qt opengl mozilla X gtk gnome ffmp eg xvid dvd tcltk -alsa -arts mysql"
abiword 1.* series is not supported anymore, not by us, not upstream. Try abiword 2.0. And if you want to try seriously, compile without athlon-xp specific opts.
