gnome-base/gnome-panel 2.26.3 and gnome-extra/gnome-media-2.26.0-r1 miss dependency on media-sound/esound. They wont build with USE=-esd and won't pull in esound with USE="esd" Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Set up stable amd64 Gentoo system with USE-"-esd", gnome-light and gnome-panel and gnome-media.
Please attach actual build error (full build.log) and emerge --info please.

revdep-rebuild (or whatever the tool is called in paludis) should be able to fix broken .la files on your system. Thanks
Paludis revdep-rebuild counterpart is called reconcilio and it didn't help. Actuially I bumped into this problem when I ran reconcilio because gnome-panel wouldn't work and it started to rebuild these two packages and failed. Thans for the hint about *.la files, I'll try to run lafilefixer and to rebuild gcc when I get to my Gentoo box.
lafilefixer didn't help either but I managed to get rid of the build error by rebuilding everything gnome-related I had installed, Everything works now, thanks.

closing invalid as according to comments it looks like some dependency was not getting rebuilt in the good order thus not allowing build of gnome-panel to complete without esound. Thanks for reporting.
