The cd kernel dies just after detecting all attached IDE devices. Here's the kernel output visible by pressing F1 or F2.. meanwhile i used knoppix
I was able to resolve this problem by doing BIOS upgrade on my Intel desktop board (I have D865PERL at work and it was brand new but still contained relatively old BIOS!) Upgraded BIOS is available at http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df/support_intel.asp (use search) Now I can use official, released gentoo 2004.0 minimal live cd to install my system!
thx 4 info
