Dear gentoonians, I'm running gentoo linux with fluxbox and KDE 3.5. Last week I upgraded my KDE from 3.5.9 to 3.5.10 but now there are some annoying issues: 1. kview chrash while opening any jpeg image (bmp, gif and png works fine). From the command line I see this error: KCrash: Application 'kview' crashing... KCrash cannot reach kdeinit, launching directly. Please note that kdeinit is running! If I add a new file associations still not remembered (see attachment). Also don't make snapshoots for jpeg files. Finally all config panel are missing! (see attachment) 3. kcontrolcenter config panel missing, like konqueror. (see attachment) 4. akregator crashes every time I update the feeds (I'm using kontact with akgregator). Reproducible: always! The jpeg issue you are referring to is likely caused by media-libs/jpeg upgrade. # emerge gentoolkit # revdep-rebuild -L libjpeg.so.62 Note that KDE3 is in process of being removed from tree, I highly recommend you upgrade the pieces of KDE you are using on fluxbox to KDE4 ones, which is marked stable.

Nope, this is caused by the situation where part of your system is compiled against libjpeg.so.62 (old) and part against the libjpeg.so.7 (new). You have too old gentoolkit or you typed the command wrongly, there is a -L flag to revdep-rebuild.
