epm -q gnome
gnome-2.4
epm -q gdm
gdm-2.4.1.6

make changes in /etc/rc.conf and set DISPLAYMANAGER="gdm"
rc-update add xdm default

reboot

gdm tries to start several times and fails.
a message dialog is displayed on a console:
[gdm] Failed to start the display server several times in a short time period;
disabling display :0

after doing manually
startx
gnome is starting, splash screen does not dissapear automatically. desktop area
remains black. panels are working.

I could provide more info if needed

Steps to Reproduce:

Actual Results:  
gdm fails to start

Expected Results:  
gdm must start

everything was fine. I only upgraded from gnumeric 1.1.2 to 1.2.0 and it upgraded
libgsf from 1.8.1 to 1.8.2 and after that metalog 0.7 to 0.7-r1. and gdm stopped
working.
Portage 2.0.49-r4 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.3.1, glibc-2.3.2-r1, 2.4.22)

login to a plain xterm (failsafe terminal or something like that) and run nautilus in a debugger and get a backtrace.

hmm missed replies on this (probably due to the bugzilla move), sorry for
this. Rebuild libgsf, usually helps. Some non-reproducable error there.
