nvidia drivers for older cards (such as Quadro FX1300) block xorg-server 1.7 release, which has now made it into ~x86. There does not appear to be an obvious reason for this - or is there?
<x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-190.42 don't work with x11-base/xorg-server-1.7.1. I'll leave this bug open to prevent more duplicates.
Fixed in 190.42-r1
This bug was specifically open for nvidia-drivers-173.14.20, which cater for older hardware, such as Quadro FX1300 This version is not fixed, so reopening bug and restoring original summary.
driver series maximum ABI ------------- ----------- 71.86.* 2.x 96.43.* 5.x 173.14.* 5.x 190.* 6.x xorg server video ABI ----------- --------- 1.7.* 6.x 1.6.* 5.x 1.5.* 2.x The 71.86.x series will not be seeing any further Xorg ABI updates. However, 96.43, and 173.14 will, but it will take some time. NVIDIA does not have a date when that support will happen.
