The fetch URI is invalid.  VMWARE must have changed their download method.  The path being used currently gives 

"An error occurred while processing your request.

Yeah, key here - "once I log into", so link would not work.
Provided URL is just a starting point.

Maybe some nice output text to screen for the user to tell them they need to manual download and and place the bundle in /usr/portage/distfiles/ before emerge again.
