Description peng shao 2009-10-27 03:02:48 UTC
Today I emerged the new xorg-server-1.7.1, however I found I have to downgrade to xorg-server-1.6 because currently nvidia-drivers needs lower version than xorg-server-1.6.99. (emerge world did not pull in
xorg-server-1.7 because of this dependency break, but I tried to emerge xorg-server-1.7 manually for some reason, which I think to be a mistake..) But I found I could not downgrade back to any version of xorg-server-1.6.x. So I post the error message of xorg-server-1.6.5 here

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge =x11-base/xorg-server-1.6.5
2.
3.

Actual Results:
failed

Expected Results:
emerge successfully

emerge --info =x11-base/xorg-server-1.6.5

Same error here when I tried to re-emerge xorg-server-1.6.5 after seeing the warning messages from an earlier emerge upgrade of libXi.

I was trying to downgrade many packages in x11-proto and x11-libs
But I don't think this could work....Since there were so many conflicting packages
I guess my box is over..
:(

Sorry for my stupid reporting--this should not be a bug. It seems to be caused by version conflicting of packages in

I don't know which they are. But simply masking them and downgrade them could get xorg-server 1.6.5 back... I apologize if I have wasted anybody's time for my stupid reporting...

Sure - that's what I usually do when a problem appears after an ugrade: downgrade again, mask the offending package(s), and forget about it.

It seems that xorg-1.7 is coming into ~arch. I'd better not to update my machine for a few days...
