I run x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel-2.9.0-r1, x11-base/xorg-server-1.6.5, gentoo-sources-2.6.31-gentoo-r2 with KMS enabled. The graphics card is a "Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 0c)" and used to properly detect the resolution of my 24" resolution (which is 1920x1200) but recently it stopped working just detecting: VGA1 connected 1280x1024+1280+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 518mm x 324mm 1280x1024 75.0* 1024x768 75.1 60.0 800x600 75.0 60.3 640x480 75.0 60.0 720x400 70.1 Everything else works perfectly. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. attach external monitor 2. try enabling it 3. only see a few too low resolutions Actual Results: Available resolutions are too low Expected Results: Resolutions properly detected emerge --info Portage 2.2_rc33 (default/linux/amd64/10.0/desktop, gcc-4.4.2, glibc-2.10.1-r0, 2.6.31-gentoo-r2 x86_64) Xorg.0.log is too big to post here so here's the link: http://monkeycode.org/~tante/Xorg.0.log
Sorry, there's not much I can do to help you here. Please file a bug in FreeDesktop's bugzilla [1] where Intel devs will be able to help you out. Once you do, please paste the URL here so I can track the issue and backport patches if needs be. Thanks [1] http://intellinuxgraphics.org/how_to_report_bug.html
Sorry for being so late, I was terribly busy at work lately. I added a bug to the freedesktop bugzilla: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25082
Reopening
Let's track the bug upstream directly. Closing with the proper resolution. Thanks
