Not sure if I am on the correct track or not, but I noticed that gst-plugins-0.6.3 ebuild does not build a whackaload of plugins by default. I also noticed a bunch of very simple ebuilds based off the gst-plugins eclass for things like cdparanoia, gnomevfs, mad, etc.. plugins. So, I am guessing from reading the eclass that there needs to be a gst-plugins-alsa ebuild. So I made one, and it worked.. Again, not sure if this is the right way, but it solved my problem. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge gst-plugins-0.6.3.ebuild 2. Get no alsa plugin Actual Results: Wound up with no alsa plugin. Expected Results: Expected to get alsa plugin. Without the alsa plugin, I couldn't have my xmms-alsa player playing, and also watch a video - there was a conflict over /dev/dsp. If you have the ALSA flag defined, when gstreamer-plugins get added, so should gstreamer-plugins-alsa.

I suffered from this too. Thanks for the ebuild.
we're well aware of this, but after speaking to the gstreamer team, the alsa sink is too immature at this time for us to include it.
