emerge -pu avidemux

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies ... done!

[ebuild N ] media-libs/alsa-oss-1.0.17
[ebuild U ] media-video/avidemux-2.5.1_p5396 [2.4.4-r2] USE="nls%* oss%* sdl%* -amr% -pulseaudio%" LINGUAS="de%* pt_BR%* -bg% -ca% -cs% -el% -es% -fr% -it% -ja% -ru% -sr% -sr@latin% -tr% -zh_TW%"

I use oss4, so I don't want to have any alsa-packages on my system. avidemux-2.4.4 works without alsa. So please make the alsa-dependency optional.

Reproducible: Always
Comment 1 Rafał Mużyło 2009-10-23 22:11:24 UTC
This will probably be INVALID - AFAIK, oss4 is overlay only.
Comment 2 Ben de Groot (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-10-28 22:06:59 UTC
OSS only works through the alsa-oss compatibility layer. If you want that changed, take it up with the upstream avidemux developers.
