rebuilding the entire system from scratch resolved the issue.. I could reproduce the error with any 4.3.2x kdelibs before. I tried recompiling the entire system twice, stripping flags, etc. The only things i did differently in the new build was use gcc 4.3.2 (opposed to 4.4.2), not use my package.use file (using default use flags), and i added the 8859-1 locale. i'm not sure if there was something else small i was missing, or some random corruption that reemerging didnt resolve.. I will mark the bug as resolved, unless others start reporting the same issue, or if you want me to troubleshoot more to figure out what the problem was, let me know!
