Description Nicolas Dietrich 2009-10-21 19:56:52 UTC
Missing runtime dependency in x11-wm/xmonad-0.8.1 ebuild: dev-libs/libffi - xmonad refuses to run without that library.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Comment 1 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-10-21 20:04:41 UTC
/tmp/xmonad-0.8.1 $ grep -r -i ffi *
TODO: - When are borders set? Prove that the current handling is sufficient.

Nope, there's no reference to libffi in xmonad at all.
Comment 2 Nicolas Dietrich 2009-10-21 22:54:02 UTC
Oh, right, sorry. My xmonad binary was built on a Debian system on the same box sharing the home directory... In Debian, xmonad actually depends on libffi5.

That's why I got:
/home/nico/.xmonad/xmonad-i386-linux: error while loading shared libraries: libffi.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Installing dev-libs/libffi solved my special problem on Gentoo.
