Hey ho... I noticed that while running emerge in a terminal (xterm, Konsole, gnome-terminal, whatever) emerge changes the title of the window in respect of what it is currently emerging. However, most of the time it is impossible to see what is actually going on because there isn't enough room for all the characters in the title bar... (running KDE, I figure the same applies to Gnome and anything else). Might I suggest that the title is reduced to the following: === (x of xx) Emerging (package-category/package-name-version) in stead of: === (x of xx) Compiling/Merging (full-path-to-ebuild) I might have made the hack myself, but since I don't have any understanding of neither the portage code nor python, I figured it would be easier to file an enhancement request... ;-) - Simon
Added the shorter version first. The info is logged, so the ebuild path is helpful later. Short version is helpful for title.
